WORKSHEET: How to prepare for an upcoming interview

Preparation is the key to a successful interview

The confidence you gain from planning and reviewing your interview goals will be reflected in a focused and relaxed interview.

WORKSHEET: Preparing to be interviewed

Who, or what organization, is interviewing you?
What is the date the interview?
What time does the interview begin in your time zone, and when does it end?
If appropriate, enter the address where the interview take place.
Where will the interview take place?
What time should you arrive at the interview location, or call in?
List any telephone numbers, passwords, or personal information numbers you need to access the interview.
List the full name, position, and contact information, (i.e, telephone, e-mail), of the individual who set up the interview, along with the date you received confirmation of the interview.
How long will the interview last?
Do you need to leave room for audience questions? How much time?
Do you need help pronouncing the interviewer's name?
Describe the audience attending, or listening to, your interview.
What are their likely key concerns?
What kind of helpful advice can you offer them?
What is the "big idea" you want to communicate?
List two or three key points you can mention to make the big idea more memorable?
What action do you want the audience to take after the interview? How can they do it?
What kind of incentive can you offer to encourage the audience to act?
Have you submitted a brief introduction and list of question's you're prepared to answer? Did you include a list of topics not appropriate for the interview?
Will you receive a recording of the interview? Are there any restrictions on using it?
