MAPS 4 STUDY: Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, and Les Hewitt's "The Power of Focus"

An action plan for putting to work what the world's greatest achievers know about financial freedom and success

The names of few nonfiction authors are as recognized around the world as Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. Originators of the famous Chicken Soup brand, these authors share an unparalleled ability to help individuals implement positive changed.

Working with coach Les Hewitt, The Power of Focus presents an easily understood and implemented action plan for successful change.

When you review the maps, below, note that there are no "chapters." Instead, there are 10 Focusing Strategies that provide a foundation for change.

Note how each Focusing Strategy includes always includes Action Steps and a Conclusion that summarizes each strategy's key points.

One of the ways you can speed the writing of your book is to identify as many elements that are always going to be present in each topic. Although the Action Steps and Conclusions often don't contain many words, writing them provides the foundation needed to complete the rest of the chapter.

The Action Steps also add visual interest to each chapter, as do the numerous lists and pull-quotes included.

About the maps

There are 3 ways you can use mind maps to better understand the structure of The Power of Focus. By referring to one of the map versions described below, you'll gain a better understanding of how the authors organized the book into sections and chapters:

  1. Download and print the PDF of the map of this book's contents. You may want to print the PDF on 3-hole punched paper, and store it in a 3-ring binder with print-outs of maps of other, similar, books.
  2. If you own the book and are a MindManager user, download the MindManager file and use the file for taking notes on the book's contents as you read it. You can also add sub topics for new ideas associated with each chapter.
  3. You can also print out the copy of the map, below, after clicking the Printer Friendly icon located at the bottom of the page.
